stephen fry's letter to himself →
“As it happens you wrote in 1973 a letter to your future self and it is high time that your future self had the decency to write back.” a really beautiful, touching piece. definitely a worthwhile read.

elizabeth banks' review of 17 again →
elizabeth brings up the tough questions no one seems to be asking, like “why didn’t hunter parrish take his shirt off in the movie?” but seriously, a worthwhile read.

Hi there Neil, I’m a huge fan. I’m sixteen, and my career aspirations are basically to do what you do. I’m interested in doing a whole bunch of creative writing; but I’d also love to work on screenplays, or perhaps in television. Looking back as a successful writer of all sorts of lovely things, if you could give your younger self any advice - or just advice to anyone in my...

“Perhaps my tweed J. Crew jacket and Tory Burch ballet flats weren’t the best wardrobe choice for that day, but I overcame the fact that I was a total Williamsburg misfit and hoped my foreigner status wouldn’t be glaringly obvious to the natives. (It was.) After narrowly escaping death by skateboard on the Bedford subway platform, I made my way to a rickety building in what felt...

fun fact: i love geese.
geese are the badasses of the aviary world. they are everywhere. they crap where they want to, and will honk in your face (loudly) if you try to tell them otherwise. they exude a “don’t fuck with me” sort of vibe. i really appreciate that sort of quality in a bird. i mean, if i could eat, fly and poop all day, i wouldn’t want to be messed with, either.

The Substance of Style, Pt 1
goldenfiddle: Wes Anderson and his pantheon of heroes (Schulz, Welles, Truffaut) (make sure to watch the accompanying video) the charles schulz/peanuts comparision is particularly fascinating to me, since when i was little i wanted to become a cartoonist and more or less idolized mr. schulz. and now, i want to become a screenwriter and i more or less idolize mr. anderson.
