Highlights from last night’s screening and panel discussion of Marc Maron’s pilot “Maron” at the New York Television Festival:
- For fans of WTF, it’s a really fun crystallization of Maron’s voice and the world of his cat ranch
- Ed Asner as his pill pushing dad
- Seth Morris (Bob Ducca) as Maron’s tech guy/friend
- Ken Jeong playing himself (not being over the top or showing his genitals)
- Breaking Bad’s Badger (Matt L. Jones) alongside Sean Patton
- W. Kamau Bell as the bizarro black version of Maron
- Luke Matheny (the big haired guy who won this year’s Live Action Short Film Oscar) directed it
- Audible murmurs of disgust by someone behind me who either didn’t know WTF or didn’t enjoy seeing someone clean a litter box while passively watching porn
- “Actor cats are assholes.”
- “Maron” is not like Louie, but thank you for trying to create that tension.”
