This is my favorite episode we’ve ever done. It features Joe Mande, Jeff Rubin, Kay Cannon, Grizz Chapman, Jack McBrayer, Seth Meyers, Tina Fey, Zachary Levi, Bobby Moynihan, Ruby, and many more. It also features a very cool girl named Alyssa, and I think we did our best to give her a fun, memorable night. With music by a man I’ve always admired, Ted Leo. One of the lyrics from his song “Bottled in Cork” probably sums up the night - A little goodwill goes a mighty long way. I hope that’s true. There is never ever any harm in being nice to other people. Thanks to everyone who was a part of this and helped make it happen.

maybe I am just cranky now without my favorite show on the air, but the return of a tired 30 Rock and my waning intrest in Parks & Rec means Thursday nights have gone from “must-watch” tv to background noise pretty quickly.

30 Rock has always been solidly absurd and full of great one-liners. this hasn’t changed, but the plots have unravelled to the point of being irrelevant, weak vehicles for jokes. I don’t even want to talk about that Batman parody tonight. its okay, 30 Rock. you’ve been dependable for a long time, and the wrinkles are showing, its natural. i had hoped you wouldn’t limp to the finish line like this. but i understand.

Parks & Rec’s 4th season was going to be magical. coming off such a stellar 3rd season, I was really looking forward to how they’d handle Leslie’s campaign. but so far, the time’s been mostly focused on the Ben/Leslie relationship (complaint in a nutshell: TOO SIMILAR. TOO EASY. TOO BORING.) and the sweetness is a too much for me. and because the show can’t come up with anything better to do with Ann, we’re treated to another relationship that has an even shorter shelf life. can we get back to mocking government and office politics in a delightfully Simpson-esque way now?

I want my Community back.
